Recently, Joel’s personal experience battling the devastating wildfires in Pacific Palisades has put him at the forefront of California’s wildfire crisis and government mismanagement. When flames threatened his home and community, Joel fought back, exposing the failures in fire prevention, emergency response, and the misuse of taxpayer funds. His reporting on the root causes of L.A.’s wildfires led to a direct conversation with President Trump, where he called for a Special Master to oversee federal disaster relief funds, ensuring they are used for fire prevention, rebuilding, and relief efforts—not wasted by bureaucrats.
Born in South Africa and raised in Chicago’s suburbs, Joel graduated with high honors from Harvard College, studying Social Studies, Environmental Science, and Public Policy. He became a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar in South Africa, later serving as speechwriter for the Leader of the Opposition in the South African Parliament. He also earned a Master of Arts in Jewish Studies from the University of Cape Town before returning to the U.S. to earn his law degree from Harvard.
After running for U.S. Congress in 2010, Joel joined Breitbart News in 2011, working alongside Andrew Breitbart to build a 24-hour news operation that changed American media and politics. He is the author of several books, including How Trump Won: The Inside Story of a Revolution and See No Evil: 19 Hard Truths the Left Can't Handle.
Now a Pacific Palisades resident, Joel lives with his wife Julia and their four children.
